Family pottery class - School Holidays

Week 2 - Bring your kids along with you to learn to throw, trim and decorate pottery over 2 days.

Service Description

Need a fun creative activity to keep you busy in the school holidays!? Look no further than this family pottery class in Newcastle. Intended to be a parent/guardian & child activity to complete together. Create something great. As a registered provider for the Creative Kids program, you can redeem your voucher with us and let your child develop new skills. Enrol them in a new activity so they can create something great. Input your voucher number/s at checkout and select "Offline payment". An invoice will be issued once the voucher has been accepted. 2 x 1.5-hour lessons over 2 days from 9:30am-11am. All students to be accompanied by at least 1 parent/guardian. Maximum 1 adult per 3 children. (1 adult must be booked in with the children to participate in the class) Only available to school aged children. Morning sessions: 9:30am-11am First lesson: • Wheel throwing demonstration from Nancy explaining key steps to make a bowl. • Breakdown of each step with students making as we go. • You can opt for hands on teaching from Nancy with each form, or you can choose to learn through trial and error. • Students to make 3 items each to keep for next lesson. • Individual guidance given as needed. Second lesson: • Demonstration of trimming piece on the wheel. • Students to trim pieces made previous lesson. • Students to use creativity and examples in class to carve/decorate pieces. Pieces will be glazed in a clear or white glaze and fired before picking up in 3-4 weeks. Pottery is a great way to improve your creative outlet and explore new techniques of thinking outside the box. Overtime it can improve motor skills, hand eye coordination and sensory development. It also provides an opportunity to practice problem solving techniques while creating. Please wear enclosed shoes and comfortable clothes that you don't mind getting a bit dirty - aprons will be provided for you to wear while on the wheel. The pottery wheels have a remote foot pedal that can be moved to each side depending what is easiest for you. Accessibility: The studio is located in the downstairs level of our home. Access is via the stairs out the front, if you require any assistance to reach the studio please let me know and I can bring you up the driveway in my car. Once at the top of the driveway there is no stairs to access the studio and bathroom.

Cancellation Policy

A full refund is issued if cancelling more than 7 days before the start of first class. If cancelling within the 7 days a 50% refund is given unless your spot in the class can be filled.
